Happy & Blessed Lunar New Year of the Yang Wood Dragon
Blessings, Heart Sharings and Contemplative Questions to help you kickstart your Lunar New Year of the Wood Dragon.
Hello radiant being,
I am wishing you a Happy and Blessed Lunar New Year of the Yang Wood Dragon :)
The Lunar New Year falls on the second New Moon after the Winter Solstice on December 21 - and it’s a welcoming and celebration of the arrival of Spring. It falls on the Aquarius sign because it is based on the Lunar calendar, which is different from the solar calendar used in Western astrology. Aquarius falls within this time frame hence the association.
We celebrate a specific zodiac every year - this year is the Yang Wood Dragon which is connected to Authority, Prosperity, Power, Good Fortune, Opportunities, Personal Growth & Success. The Dragon is a majestic and incredibly lucky mystical creature in our asian folklore culture, symbolizing Bravery, Creativity and Innovation. The Wood Dragon Year comes every 60 years ✨🐉 !! My main Spirit Guide and Teacher, Goddess Guan Yin often depicted riding the Dragon :) ! (see below)
In my Vietnamese Buddhist Culture & Tradition, this is a time of Celebration. It feels like New Year, Christmas and all the major holidays combined into ONE.
On Lunar New Year Eve, we focus on doing a deep cleansing of our physical home and space - letting go of what no longer serves and getting rid of all the dust and stagnant energy - so that spaciousness is being created to welcome the New Year full of Good Luck and fresh new energy. On New Year’s Day for 3 consecutive day, we celebrate by visiting temples, eating homemade food that symbolizes prosperity and abundance (each dish has a unique story to it), connecting with our family & friends, paying respect to our ancestors / deities / ascended masters and creating beautiful memories.
We try to abstain from washing, cleaning etc on New Years and within the 3 days because it is believed it will wash away our good luck as we welcome in new energy and intentions.
There is a lot of richness and magic imbued into our Lunar New Year celebrations. It is my favourite time of the year because it feels like a new fresh start due to all the rituals, prayers, celebrations and family time that I’ve grown up with.
I highly recommend if you are interested, to experience a Lunar New Year celebration for yourself 🥰 maybe go to a Buddhist temple, or if you have a friend that celebrates ask if they can take you to experience it. It’s full of magic and joy 🥰
Yesterday I hosted a Live Meditation on Insight Timer with over 200 souls, and I know many had missed out so I will share the audio replay on my profile within the next few days. In the meantime, I want to extend this contemplative intention exercise for you :
1. What does the Dragon represent to you?
2. The Wood Dragon year offers fertile ground for renewal & transformation - what parts of you and your life are you willing to let go and transform?
3. The Wood Dragon embraces innovation and creativity - what projects or visions do you wish to birth?
4. How do you envision your Wood Dragon Year to be like?
May this year of the Wood Dragon bestow Prosperity, emPowerment, Good fortune, Opportunities, Personal Growth & Success to you and your loved ones ✨🐉🫶🏽
May the Wood Dragon help you fly and soar high beyond the clouds of fear and doubt, to inspire you to create the life you desire with passion, determination and empowerment.
May your prayers be heard.
May your hearts purest desires be met.
May you be healthy, well and happy.
May all Beings be Happy, Healthy and Free.
May peace prevail on Earth.
With Love and Blessings,
Nhi Nhi
